Pragati Academy, formerly MET Public School, was established in 1991 and later renamed on the advice of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the visionary scientist and 11th President of India. Pragati Academy has been accorded the prestigious status of a Registered Space Tutor of ISRO as part of the premier space research organization's Outreach Initiatives. This recognition was conferred at a special event marking the launch of this initiative, reaffirming the academy's commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and advancing space education among students.
The official launch of the ISRO Space Tutor Programme took place on April 4, 2024, with His Excellency Shri Arif Mohammed Khan, Hon'ble Governor, presiding over the event. The occasion was further enriched by the esteemed presence of Dr. G. Madhavan Nair, Former Chairman of ISRO, Shri S. Unnikrishnan Nair, Director of VSSC, Trivandrum, Dr. V. P. Joy IAS, Former Chief Secretary, Dr. Indira Rajan, Managing Director, and Ms. Suchitra Shyjinth, Principal of Pragati Academy.
